Warm up by moving from easy and general to faster and specific, stopping before preparation becomes fatigue. Five to eight minutes covers most easy runs. Hard sessions and short races need more easy running plus controlled strides.
After twelve years, I value consistency over novelty. Use one default routine, change only what the session or your body requires, and let the warm-up answer the most important question: are you ready for today’s planned load?
